MOTION, submitted by Councilmember Landsman, WHEREAS emergency vehicles such as police cars, ambulances and fire trucks, along with other services vehicles such as armored cars, are in an ideal position to save fuel and reduce emissions with technologies and best practices that allow them to perform vital services without idling. WE MOVE that the Administration report to Council on the feasibility of prohibiting emergency vehicles from standing and/or idling near greenspaces in the City of Cincinnati, whether in the downtown section or otherwise, for a period in excess of 15 minutes. WE FURTHER MOVE that the Administration include in its report the feasibility of implementing fuel and emissions reduction technologies recommended in 2015 report by the U.S. Department of Energy titled, "Idling Reduction for Emergency and Other Service Vehicles".
