Title: MOTION, dated 6/11/2021, submitted by Councilmember Kearney, WE MOVE that City Council allocate $25,000 from the Neighborhood Activation Fund to I Hear Music, Inc. in order to support the three decades of old Midwest Regional Black Family Reunion (BFR) in 2022. BFR events were founded across the country by the National Congress of Negro Women, led by the late Dr. Dorothy Height, The purpose was to provide information and resources to disadvantaged communities, and to create an event for all families to bond together in a multi-cultural celebration. The Midwest BFR consists of 3-4 days of activities including a free community breakfast with an inspirational speaker and community awards ceremony, parade, job and career fair, and two days of performances, workshops, vendor booths, and informational booths by non-profits at Sawyer Point.
