| 1 | | Motion | MOTION, dated 9/7/2016 submitted by Councilmembers Simpson, Seelbach, Flynn, Young, Sittenfeld and Vice Mayor Mann, WE MOVE that the Administration provide a comprehensive report on the background and history of the heroin epidemic, including an update on the recent spike in overdoses. WE FURTHER MOVE that the Administration include any short and long term recommendations in its report that City Council can expeditiously act upon. WE FURTHER MOVE that the Administration contact treatment providers within the City in order to identify any gaps in the current treatment and recovery system, i.e. in sufficient wrap-around services or insufficient follow-up with recovering addicts after they leave a facility. WE FURTHER MOVE that the Administration approach the heroin epidemic as a true public health crisis and advocate to the Ohio Department of Health and Governor of Ohio to designate it as such.
