The public danger or emergency arises from a series of severe storms and extensive flooding which occurred beginning July 17, 2026, with continued impacts affecting the Cincinnati community. Numerous properties within Cincinnati have been affected by this historic weather event, causing catastrophic flooding and water damage to homes, businesses, vehicles, and other property. Subsequent storms and rainfall on July 19 and 21, 2026 worsened the region’s flooding and damage to public infrastructure, transportation corridors, utilities, and stormwater systems across numerous Cincinnati neighborhoods. All of us at the City mourn Jonathan and are praying for his family in this difficult time. Unfortunately, Jonathan Young is not the first Public Works employee who was lost in the line of duty. To honor Jonathan and those that fell before him, WE MOVE the city administration begin a process and identify sites for permanent memorial to all Cincinnati Public Works employees who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
